Pakko embroidery is one of the most famous hand embroidery arts, the song of the needle. This style of embroidery gets its name from the community that practices it Sodha-Rajput is the name of the community. Pakko means the local language, ‘paku kam’ means solid. The work represents its name, strong, durable. The strongness and denseness of the work is achieved through the abundant use of the tight, open and elongated chain stitch known as the cheereli saankdi. Artists get inspiration for their works from natural elements. Designing the birds, animals and figurative motifs in their works, they reflect respect for nature. Denseness and colour combination are the admirable skills of artists. In this embroidery, the craftswomen use mirrors and daano. They make a single unit of the chain stitch to lighten the density of Pakko embroidery. They do daano, using white thread, as an effective highlighter. Through this work, the craftswomen not only represent their creative skill, but also represent the tradition.
